Impermanence is a typeface exploring concepts of decay and deletion. I initially aimed to create a typeface system in which the act of typing decreases the legibility and therefore the functionality of the glyphs as conveyors of meaning.

It developed into a font family of 12 styles staging a transition from geometric monoline sans serif to utterly indecipherable end state. I chose to make a sampler to elaborate and explore the typeface’s properties. A number of risograph prints featuring an array of type treatments, quotes, and information are dispersed between twelve layers of acetate printed with glyph tables.
